HYDERABAD, March 6: The Sindh secretary for women development, Nisar Ahmed Siddiqui has made the feudal gentry responsible for the problems of interior Sindh right from the menace of Karo-kari to the law and order.

Speaking at a seminar the "Role of Women Councillors in Politics", organized by the "Women Political Participation Project" here on Friday, he called upon the women to come forward and fight for their rights so that a balanced society could be established.

Mr Siddiqui said the way, the situation of interior Sindh had been projected was creating a wrong impression and discouraging investment.

He said social evils must be highlighted but causes and solutions of these problems should also be suggested.

He said the main problem was education and consciousness and added that if education was made universal, all the problems could be resolved.

Mr Siddiqui assured the participants that the Sindh women development department was preparing comprehensive projects for the welfare of women and it would be placed before the Sindh cabinet for approval.

He hoped that such projects would change the fate of women.

He said the women political participation project (W3P) had created awareness among the women councillors throughout the country and had also trained them to serve the masses without any discrimination.

He urged the women councillors to promote the cause of education among the children because education created self- confidence and awareness.

He hoped that W3P training would be useful for women councillors regarding their rights and responsibilities.

EDO revenue Shakeel Hyder Naqvi welcomed the chief guest and highlighted the project.

The W3P senior instructor Musarrat Qadeem said the project trained the women councillors regarding their rights and responsibilities.

She said the women councillors had been trained to play their political role and creating awareness among the masses.

She said working women had to face manifold problems, theproblems of home, children as well as social problems.

She said under the new local bodies system, women had taken first step in politics and added it was now upto them to prove their metal.

People's Party Parliamentarians MPA Farheen Mughal said women had no other option but to take full part in the political process to resolve their problems.

Women councillors Apa Badar-un-Nisa, Waheeda Feroze and others also expressed their views.

A documentary film was also shown on the occasion.

LUMHS: The additional controller of examinations, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Jamshoro, announced on Friday that the last date for submission of examination forms for B.Sc nursing degree programme (2nd semester), diploma in nursing education (final semester), and diploma in nursing administration and management (final semester) without late fee has been fixed as March 11 and March 17 with the late of Rs200.

EXAMS: The Mehran University of Engineering and Technology announced for the failure students of 1996-2003 batches that their supplementary examinations of the first, third, fifth and seventh term of B.E, B.CRP, B.Architecture and only ninth term of B.Architecture 1995-1998 batches would commence from March 15 from 2pm to 5pm.
