MANSEHRA, March 6: The leader of the opposition in the NWFP Assembly, Shahzada Mohammad Gustasap Khan, has demanded a judicial inquiry into the murder of a police officer and asked the federal government to take notice of the deteriorating law and order situation in the province.
Speaking at a news conference here on Saturday, he said the incidents of kidnapping for ransom, robbery and murder had risen sharply due to the interference of non-elected people in government affairs.
Shahzada Mohammad Gustasap Khan accused the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) government of patronizing criminals and outlaws, saying that the entire government machinery had been held hostage by a gang of miscreants.
The situation had become so critical that though police offered advice in cases of kidnap for ransom, but did not register the FIR, he remarked.
Sub-inspector Safeer Khan was killed on Wednesday during a transporters protest against a toll plaza on the main Karakoram Highway.
