KARACHI, Feb 28: Judge Arshad Noor Khan of anti-terrorism court (ATC-III), on Saturday, adjourned the hearing of police camp firing case against Zulfiqar Ali after recording statement of two eyewitnesses.

Zulfiqar Ali is charged with killing two assistant sub- inspector of police and injuring six others including four policemen, a Rangers personnel and a teenager at police camp outside the US Consulate in Karachi on Feb 28 last year.

Police sub-inspector Maqsood Ahmed Khan, an injured of the said incident, and Ranger's personnel Azhar Ali recorded their statements and identified Zulfiqar Ali as accused who was firing at the police camp.

Ranger's personnel stated that he caught the accused while he was escaping after firing at the camp. He stated a kilashinkove and two TT pistols were recovered from his possession.

The accused was indicted by court after observing his medical report, which denied claim of defence counsel that accused is mentally retarded. Special Public Prosecutor Naimat Ali Randhawa is representing the state in the case.

The court fixed March 3 for recording statement of other prosecution witnesses.

Meanwhile, Judge Feroz Mehmood Bhatti of ATC-II adjourned hearing of the PSO House blast case against two activists of banned Lashkar-i-Jhangvi after cross examination of two witnesses by defence counsel.

The activists, Abdul Wahab Afghani and Shah Nawaz alias Shani, are charged with planting a bomb in a parking area near the PSO House on Feb 3, 2003. One person died while two others were injured in the explosion. -PPI
