KARACHI, Feb 28: The teachers belonging to Urdu Arts and Urdu Science colleges have been accepted as university teachers by the senate of the Federal Urdu University for Arts, Sciences and Technology.

According to a spokesman for the university, the minutes pertaining to the last meeting of the senate were confirmed on Saturday during a meeting held with the deputy chair of senate, Jamiluddin Aali at the Gulshan Iqbal campus of the varsity.

With the approval of the minutes of the 3rd meeting of the senate held at Islamabad, now, two teachers would be inducted in the varsity's senate in accordance with the rules.

The meeting was also told that 'search committee,' constituted to nominate the varsity vice-chancellor, the post which fell vacant some two months back, following appointment of its first VC Dr Pirzada Qasim as vice-chancellor of the Karachi University, which included two representatives of teachers, would furnish some suitable names to the President Gen Musharraf, who was also the chancellor of the Urdu varsity, for a final say.

The meeting decided to prepare two project papers in regard to introduction of additional disciplines at the varsity's Islamabad campus and addition in and renovation of the Arts faculty building at Karachi, which would be sent to the HEC.
