SUKKUR, Feb 14: At least six people were killed and 31 others injured in two separate road accidents in Sukkur and Khairpur districts on Saturday.

A pickup (991-298) was on its way to Shikarpur when a trawler (LS-2997) collided head-on with it on the Sukkur bypass as a result three persons, including two women, were killed on the spot while nine others received injuries.

Those killed included Iqbal Begum, Hakim Zadi and Haji Saeed.

The injured were identified as Farzana, Erum, Rizwana, Bashiraan, Mohammad Ismail, Irfan, Haji, son of Deedar, Rehmatullah and Samina.

The police arrested the trawler driver, Irfanullah Marwat, and impounded the vehicle.

In another incident, three people were killed and 22 others injured when a pickup overturned after its tie-rod broke on the Ranipur bypass Khairpur district.

The passenger pickup (PAA-066) was on its way to Gambat from Raza Mohammad Khoso village Taluka Kandhkot.

Those killed were identified as Ghulam Qadir Sabzoi, Mohammad Sabzoi and Ghulam Abbas Sabzoi.

The injured - Mohammad Sukheer, Noor Hassan, Mohammad Usman, Qurban, Wazir, Shafi Mohammad, Ghulam Mustafa, Jagan Fakir, Ali Akbar, Shah Mohammad, Jalal, Liaqat, Momal, Nihal, Sher Mohammad, Shoukat and others - were admitted to the civil hospital Sukkur and Taluka hospital Gambat.

LAW AND ORDER: Additi-onal Inspector-General, Sukkur Region, Rahoo Khan Brohi has urged Ulema belonging to all religious sects to demonstrate the spirit of peace, love and brotherhood during the upcoming month of Muharam.
