DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Feb 14: The anti-corruption department registered various cases last year against officials of government departments for their alleged involvement in corruption and malpractices and some of them were sent to jail after charges against them were found true.
The anti-corruption department booked an executive engineer and a sub-divisional officer of the irrigation department and officials of other departments, including revenue, education, Zakat and Ushr, excise and taxation, health, and irrigation for misappropriating funds worth millions of rupees in 2003, says a statement issued by the circle officer of the anti-corruption establishment here on Tuesday.
A number of these officials had obtained bail before arrest, while some of them were sent to jail.
MOTORCYCLES STOLEN: Three motorcycles were stolen from different areas here the other day.
Dr Amanullah had parked his motorcycle (DNC-6598) in front of a house in Mohallah Gosayanwala where he had gone to attend a patient. When he out of the house, his motorcycle was missing.
Another motorcycle (DNC-430) was stolen from Mohallah Juma Shah. Ghazanfar Ali told police he had parked his motorcycle outside his house. When he came out of the house, his motorcycle had been stolen.
A case on snatching of a motorcycle was registered at the cantonment police station. Ghulam Jillani told police three people attired in police uniform snatched his motorcycle near Ratta Kulachi.
BIKE RECOVERED: Police recovered a stolen bike from the house of Bilal. Police said the accused was an active member of an inter-provincial gang of car-lifters.
