ISLAMABAD, Feb 10: The opposition Democratic Alliance has submitted an adjournment motion to the Senate Secretariat seeking debate on Pakistan-India relations with a focus on the forthcoming officials talks between the two countries , sources told Dawn here on Tuesday.

The sources said the Opposition members had moved the motion as they believed that the government was reluctant to bring the matter to parliament.

They said the adjournment motion had been signed by parliamentary leader of the People's Party Parliamentarians (PPP) Mian Raza Rabbani, parliamentary leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-N Ishaq Dar, Sanaullah Baloch of the Balochistan National Party and Raza Mohammad Raza of the Pakhtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP).

They said the opposition members had been demanding for the past many months that parliament should be taken into confidence regarding recently announced confidence building measures (CBMs) with India and talks between Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and President Gen Pervez Musharraf at the sideline of Saarc summit.

Talking to Dawn, the parliamentary secretary of the ARD, Izhar Amrohvi said the government had developed a habit of keeping parliament in the dark on issues of national importance.
