PMAP slams MMA's policies

Published February 8, 2004

CHAMAN, Feb 7: Strongly criticizing the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal's policies, the Pukhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PMAP) has said that by supporting the military regime the MMA has strangulated the rights of the masses.

Speaking at a public meeting here on Saturday, the PMAP leaders said contrary to the MMA, the PMAP had always struggled against the dictatorial rule and would continue its campaign in association with other democratic forces of the country for the revival of real democracy, its stability, supremacy of parliament and equality of nationalities.

The PMAP leaders said by joining hands with a dictator the MMA had negated its own claims. The religious parties alliance, which secured votes in the name of Islam, had pushed the people towards backwardness, poverty and unemployment, they claimed.

The PMAP leaders lauded adoption of a constitution by a historic Loya Jirga in Afghanistan. They said intruders were trying to deceive the Afghan people in the name of Islam but the valiant Afghans had foiled their conspiracies at every level.-PPI
