PAF denies attack on air base

Published February 1, 2004

ISLAMABAD, Jan 31: The Pakistan Air Force on Saturday denied any attack on its air base at Kohat, said an ISPR press release.

"In the recent days a section of the press has carried news of PAF Base at Kohat coming under rockets attack with inaccurate conclusions. On Wednesday, 28 January, 2004 the rockets fired in Kohat area did not land on the air base premises.

"Secondly, there is no evidence that 'ready to fire rockets', recovered on Friday, were intended to be fired at PAF base, Kohat.

"It may be noted that there is a history of rival factions firing rockets at each other in the area.

"As such, mere presence of rockets in the vicinity of an air base should not be construed as an attack on the air base," the press release said.-APP
