ISLAMABAD, Jan 31: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has extended the date for launching a special recovery campaign against the defaulters of property tax, and water and allied charges till February 28.

The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting, presided over by CDA chairman Kamran Lashari at the authority's headquarters here on Saturday.

The chairman directed the revenue directorate to extend the date for dues' recovery and asked the departments concerned to cooperate with the authority in this regard.

Mr Lashari said latest equipment for the Fire Brigade Department would be purchased soon after getting approval of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec). The PC-1 for the project has already been sent to Ecnec for approval and recruitments in the department will be made soon, he added.

He directed the officials concerned to arrange more parking space at the weekly bazaars. He said these bazaars should be redesigned to provide better facilities to the people.

The chairman said new sheds would be constructed at the bazaars.

He also called for improving cleanliness and asked the authorities concerned to ensure that quality products were sold in the bazaars at affordable prices.

He directed the staff concerned to simplify the process of birth and death registration. He said the whole record would be computerized and a new system be introduced after which people would be able to get these certificates on just one telephone call.
