FAISALABAD: Protest against toll tax

FAISALABAD, Jan 24: People from all walks of life staged a sit-in in front of the district government offices here on Saturday against the imposition of toll tax on five major roads in the district.

Led by union council Nazims Rana Naeem Dastgir, Dilbar Hameed, Rana Usman, district PPP president Rana Farooq Saeed Khan, city president Mahmoodul Hasan Dar, district PML-N secretary general Shahbaz Ahmad Kissana, the protesters marched on different city roads carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans in favour of their demands.

They raised slogans against the imposition of toll tax.

They claimed that the imposition of toll tax by the district government was a clear violation of the prescribed rules of the Punjab Local Government Ordinance.

They vowed to continue their protest campaign till the withdrawal of tax.

Later, they also held a demonstration at the Clock Tower.
