MIRPURKHAS, Jan 24: District Nazim Pir Shafqat Hussain Shah Jilani has said that Rs25 million will be spent on different schemes of roads from sugar cane cess funds so that growers can easily supply their produce to the sugar mills.

He was presiding over a meeting of the district sugarcane cess committee on Friday.

The meeting attended by the DCO, EDOs agriculture, works and services, taluka Nazims, representatives of growers and sugar mills approved schemes, including three schemes of Rs10.43 million for Mirpurkhas taluka, one scheme of Rs700,000 for Samaro taluka, Rs1 million (Umerkot), Rs4 million (Kot Ghulam Mohammad) and four schemes of Rs7.40 millions for Digri taluka.

A sum of Rs2.5 million was also sanctioned for two constructions schemes of Digri.

POWER BILLS: Hesco authorities are reportedly issuing detection power bills to cover losses after their failure to overcome power stealing.

Power theft was continued in the city with the connivance of the Hesco officials and when they had failed to overcome it, they were issuing detection bills to all the consumers without any justification.

Detection bills are issued without installing any test meter and proving consumers involved in power theft.
