KARACHI, Jan 10: A committee has been constituted to scrutinize all the cases of appointments made recently in the Fishermen Cooperative Society. The committee will be headed by the vice-chairman of the Society , who is a representative of the fishermen community.

According to an announcement of the Society, the committee has been formed on the directives of the provincial minister for fisheries and livestock, Sardar Manzoor Ali Khan Panhwar, who is also the chairman of the FCS.

The announcement said no regular appointments were made in the FCS and all appointments were made on a daily wages basis. It said only the required number of staff would be retained on merit and services of those who not fulfilling the requirements would be terminated.

The announcement further said the departure of the navy personnel from the Karachi Fish Harbour had left an administrative vacuum which had to be filled.
