QUETTA, Jan 10: The provincial government, Quetta Electricity Supply Company and the Zamindar Action Committee have agreed on a comprehensive power disconnection strategy regarding defaulting growers. A concerted campaign in this regard would begin from Jan 12.
The decision in this regard was taken at a joint meeting of representatives of the three parties here on Saturday. Senior officers of the provincial government, Qesco and Zamindar Action Committee attended the meeting.
There are 11,922 defaulters in the province, owing around Rs600 million in power dues to Qesco.
Qesco sources said: "Power connections would be restored on payment of outstanding dues while tubewell transformers will not be returned on provisional payment," the tripartite meeting decided.
