SUKKUR, April 24: Train service between Quetta, Peshawar and Lahore was suspended when two powerful bomb blasts ripped apart a portion of the Kashmore-Sibi section between Tangwani and Bijarani railway station in the jurisdiction of Dera Sarki police station on Sunday night.

Two pieces of the railway track were blown over to the nearby villages of Hafeez Khoso and Ghulam Rasool Malik, injuring a woman identified as Gurnaz Nandvani.

The bombs were planted under the railway track, which exploded simultaneously and the pilot engine coming from the down track narrowly escaped.

Railway and police officials immediately rushed to the spot and all the up and down trains were stopped at various railway stations.

DS Railway, Sukkur, Chaudhry Nazir Ahmed, said that the blasts took place despite heavy security and mobile teams deployed along the railway track.

He said a team of railway workers along with the officials of the bomb disposal squad were sent to the area and an inquiry has been ordered.
