KARACHI, April 20: Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad has called for taking priority steps to establish call centres in the province. He was presiding over a high-level meeting at Governor’s House on Wednesday in which the provision of facilities for call centres was examined. Senior Minister Sardar Ahmed, IT Minister Mustafa Kamal, IT Secretary Bakhshal Khan Gadaro and other officials also attended the meeting.

The governor directed that all facilities should be provided to local and foreign organizations working in this sector and cooperation be lent to them on preferential basis right from the provision of space to technical matters.

Mustafa Kamal said that employment opportunities would generate with the establishment of call centres. He told the meeting that around 1,000 youths were being provided training on government expenses and the facility was being outsourced to make the training system effective.

The minister said that positive results of government contacts with international investors had started appearing and some 15 call centres with 200 to 800 seats would come up during the next few months.

He apprised the governor about the incentives, guidance and cooperation being provided to the interested investors and said that they considered Sindh an ideal province for investment in the IT sector.

The governor stressed the need for selection of spots at various places for call centres so that the youth could get employment at nearest places and round- the-clock functionality could progress smoothly. —APP
