HYDERABAD, April 19: Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party chairman Dr Qadir Magsi has condemned demolition of old villages in Karachi by the Sindh government on the pretext that their existence was illegal. In a statement issued on Monday, he said 17 old villages had been declared illegal under the scheme-33 and the demolition work had already been started.

Mr Magsi said this was a conspiracy to expel the Sindhis from Karachi. He accused the MQM of bulldozing old villages with a view to snatching Karachi from the Sindhis. He said Karachi was the city of Sindhis and villages had been established hundreds of years ago.

Under the circumstances, he said, the government had no right to demolish the villages and held out an assurance to the villagers that the party was fully prepared to protect them.

EXAMS FORM: The Mehran University of Engineering and Technology has fixed the last date for submitting examination forms at April 26.

The university’s examinations of ninth term (2001 batch) of bachelor’s of architecture and seventh term (2002 batch), fifth term (2003-batch), third term (2004 batch) and first term (2005 batch) of bachelor’s of engineering, bachelor’s of city and regional planning and bachelor’s of architecture will commence from May 2.
