KARACHI, April 19: The city government has established a control room in the DCO Karachi’s camp office where a daily report would be prepared regarding the removal of encroachments and expediting development work at the Lyari Expressway. The decision was taken at a meeting held under the chairmanship of DCO Fazlur Rehman on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by Project Director LEW, Director LEW (NHA) besides revenue officials and others.

It was decided that the deputy district revenue officer would himself be the in-charge officer of the LEW control room, which would start functioning forthwith.

The control room will receive complaints and reports with reference to the Lyari Expressway and bring the same to the notice of the DCO, who would then take remedial measures.

It was decided that any hurdle that may arise in the way of the expressway would be removed the same day and related issues resolved forthwith.

The meeting decided that all encroachments coming in the way of the LEW at Pak Colony, Goharabad and adjoining areas would be removed before April 24, from Gharib Nawaz Colony by April 29 and from Orangi Nullah to Lasbella in Liaquatabad Town before April 30.—APP
