KARACHI, April 7: The supply of power to the Site industrial area will become normal following the completion of 132 KV overhead transmission line within next 20 days. The Site area industries have been experiencing load shedding for the last many months. Due to technical problems KESC was unable to install the transmission line through two towers, Site Association of Industry Chairman Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig told Dawn. Premier Battery had obtained a stay order from the Sindh High Court for carrying out any civil or electrical work for the installation of transmission towers within the premises of the factory.

Dr Baig, who is also a director on the KESC Board, took up the matter with the board and negotiated with Premier Battery, and finally the company withdrew the case from the court.

As a part of the settlement, KESC has compensated the company for using its land to install the transmission towers. The civil work is expected to be completed within 20 days.

“Uninterrupted supply of electricity will save the industries from losses they incur because of heavy load shedding,” the Site body chief added.
