BASSETERRE (St Kitts), Oct 28: West Indies manager Ricky Skerritt says fielding could prove decisive in next month’s Test series against Sri Lanka.
The West Indies team is scheduled to leave for Sri Lanka Tuesday for a tour that includes a three-Test series against Sri Lanka and a triangular of One-day Internationals also involving Zimbabwe.
“It is not going to be easy because Sri Lanka is one of the most improved teams in the world and they are playing at home,” he said Saturday.
“I think we will come home with a Test victory. And we are going to come home ... at least finishing in the finals of the one-day series,” Skerritt said, speaking to reporters at his home in St Kitts Saturday.
Skerritt said he based his confidence on the star batsmen Brian Lara and skipper Carl Hooper, as well as younger players’ experience after recent Test series against England, South Africa and Zimbabwe.—APP/AP
