ISLAMABAD, March 28: China is considering a proposal to discuss with Pakistani authorities to establish a frontier zone at Khunjirab port to enhance interaction and trade between border areas of the two countries. Speaking at a press conference here on Monday vice-commissioner of Kashgar Prefectural Administration, xingjiang China Chen Ji said that the Chinese delegation would also discuss with government of Northern Areas Administration about the proposed trade zone within Tashikurgan country.

Elaborating the frame work of the zone, vice commissioner said that the initial plan of the zone includes an area covering 10,000 square meters, 200 shops and 100 each stalls for Pakistan and China respectively. All expenditure of the construction of the zone will be borne by China, he added.

He said that the management of the zone would provide convenient, fast customs clearance environment and preferential policies for the traders.

“We will reduce or remit the market management fee and land using fee, all that really making traders and customers in the trade zone get good benefit”, he added.

Elaborating the details of the first “Kashgar Trade Fair”, he said that the proposed fair will be held from May 10-12 at Kashgar New Yield Fast (NYF) international exhibition centre.

He said that in the trade fair new products, new technologies and new items will be demonstrated. Similarly, talks on imports and exports will be held in the exhibition along with to discuss projects on domestic and foreign economic and technological cooperation.

Categories of commodities to be displayed at the exhibition would include electrical machinery, agricultural machinery, engineering machinery, communication equipment, furniture, home electrical appliance, office equipment, hardware and chemical engineering equipment, building material, civil porcelain, textile and clothing, food material, handicrafts, toys, etc. The vice-commissioner said that foreign exhibitors would get a stall free of cost.
