KARACHI, March 26: A four-day national ghazal festival will open at the Arts Council on Sunday night. The ghazal festival is being organized by the Pakistan National Council of the Arts. The vocalists performing on the first day of the festival include Tina Sani, Ghulam Abbas, Salamat Ali, Humaira Channa, Anita Shah, Farhat Abbas and Sultan Amir Khan. Farida Khanum, Ikram Mehdi, Mohammad Ali, Pervez Mehdi, Naeema Mushtaq, Shahzad Ali and Julia Nargis will sing on the second day. The singers performing on the third day include Ghulam Ali, Taranum Naz, Ishtiaq Basheer, Saira Naseem, Fida Hussain, Shaukat Manzoor and Farida Rehman. Azra Riaz and Salamat Ali will perform on the fourth day.

A seminar highlighting the role played by ghazal poets and music composers will also be held on the last day of the festival. Judges will give awards to outstanding performers.
