MITHI, May 30: The members of taluka council, Mithi, have demanded of the government to declare Thar as calamity hit ares.

The council passed a resolution, at its session, held here the other day, pointing out that though Thar had been hit by natural calamities and both the district and taluka councils had reportedly passed resolutions earlier demanding of the government to declare the district a calamity hit area, no relief was given to the people of the area.

The council criticized the ADBP for not obeying the orders of President Pervez Musharraf, who had announced a remission of mark-up upto the loan of Rs100,000 and remission for those growers who had taken a loan of Rs25000 from the ADBP, at a public gathering.
