DERA GHAZI KHAN, May 30: The local tehsil council on Thursday approved the amended budget of Rs84.8 million for the year 2001-2002.
The council’s session chaired by tehsil Naib Nazim Hafiz Khalid Rauf strongly criticized the district coordination officer and tehsil municipal officer for the non-utilization of uplift funds.
The house also decided that the next session would be held on June 15 at Fort Munro.
Although the tehsil council met after six weeks, a non serious environment was prevailing in the house.
Members said despite tall claims of the government, the devolution of power was not being observed at the grass-root level.
Opposition members said they had been informed at the last moment about the amended budget, adding that it was a burden on the public.
Zulqarnain Nutkani, a member, said the water supply to Bhutta Colony and various other localities had been suspended for the last several days due to the negligence of administration.
The TMO apologized when Nutkani raised finger on him for his insulting behaviour with the members.
Another member, Saifullah Bozdar, said that funds worth millions of rupees were being lapsed for which the responsible persons should be penalized.
SHOT DEAD: Four robbers on Wednesday night shot dead a motorcyclist on resistance in the limits of Kot Cchuta police station.
Falak Sher was on his way home by his motorcycle (7957-DGF) when he was intercepted by highwaymen. They shot dead him for putting up resistance and tried to escape. The area people caught one of the fleeing assailants who was identified as Allah Bachaya. He was later handed over to police.
