KARACHI, March 23: Different parts of the city, including Gulshan-i-Iqbal’s Metroville-III and Block 4- have been getting contaminated water for the last one month.

The affected localities include parts of Gulshan-i-Iqbal’s Block 4-A (Journalists’ Society) and blocks 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 of Metroville-III.

Criticising the KWSB officials concerned for not taking interest in rectifying the fault responsible for the contaminated water, the Nazim of the union council said a number of residents of the affected locality, especially children and elderly persons, have already become victim of diarrhoea and other abdomen diseases.

Accusing the KWSB staff concerned of not taking interest in removing the fault responsible for contaminated water supply, the Nazim alleged that such a situation has been created by the vested interest to give a boost to the sale of water by private tankers.

Residents of Gulshan-i-Iqbal’s Block 4-A (Journalists Society) complained that although a number of houses of their locality, starting from House No B-1, have been receiving filthy water for the last one month, the KWSB executive engineer concerned and his staff have not yet taken measures to provide them clean water.

Residents of the affected localities complained that since they were being supplied stinking for the last one month, they have no choice but to purchase private tankers at exorbitant rates.

They also deplored that although they had lodged a number of complaints with the KWSB engineers concerned, they have not yet bothered to rectify the fault responsible for the filthy water.

Residents of both the affected localities demanded of the City Nazim and the KWSB managing director to direct the officials concerned to remove the fault without any further delay.

Similarly, residents of Pak Colony and other adjoining areas said that they had been receiving contaminated water for the last few weeks, but the officials concerned have taken no measures to improve the situation.
