Karachi to host SAFF soccer

KARACHI, March 21: Karachi’s Peoples Sports Complex will stage the sixth edition of South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship in December this year, featuring three-times champion India, holders Bangladesh, host Pakistan, 1995 champion Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives and Bhutan.

According to press release of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) issued on Monday, it is main event on PFF calendar.

The SAFF Championship is held biannually to promote the development of football in South Asia. Launched at Lahore’s Railway Stadium in 1993 as Saarc Gold Cup; since 1997 onwards it is known as the SAFF Championship.—PPI
