ISLAMABAD, March 21: The Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB) will consider proposals of various power projects to be set up in Punjab and Sindh by the local and foreign investors to meet the future demands. The meeting of the PPIB Board will be held here on Tuesday with Federal Minister for Water and Power, Liaquat Ali Jatoi in the chair.

Sources said that all the projects based on thermal and coal and offered by the investors from the US, UK and Pakistan. The board will take up the proposals in detail and allow PPIB for formal procedure in case of complete formalities, viable proposals, availability of gas and other requirements under the power policy.

The sources said that the meeting would also take up the report of the road-shows held in Dubai and London in February and March to attract investment for three ICB projects of 1200mw, presented in the road-shows. The investors were also offered seven hydel projects of 1800mw. PPIB also highlighted investment opportunities for five coal blocks, two in Thar, two in Sonda, and one in Lakhra.

The sources said that the road-shows were very successful and more than 100 investors from Europe, the US and other countries participated. The shows received an excellent response from the prospective investors, lenders and financial advisers. The road-shows were part of the efforts to approach the potential investors at their doorsteps for marketing upcoming private projects. The sources expressed the hope that a good response will be received when the projects would be formally launched.—APP
