KOLKATA, March 19: Pakistan paceman Rana Navedul Hasan who had gone down with a shoulder injury was recovering well and could be available for the third Test against India in Bangalore.

Team’s assistant physiotherapist, Eric Jhonson told Dawn on Saturday that Naved, who sustained the injury during the first Test in Mohali, would shortly start bowling in the nets.

“The injury to his right shoulder, has responded well to our treatment and he is now keen to play in Bangalore,” Eric said.

Naved took only one for 133 in the first innings of the Mohali match that ended in a draw last week and went wicketless in the second. He sat out the one-going second match in Kolkata, his place being taken by left-arm pacer Muhammad Khalil.

“My possibility of playing would depend on how I am able to bowl in the nets,” Naved said on Saturday at the Eden Gardens.

Playing Khalil a mistake: Aamir Sohail Kolkata, March 19: Pakistan made a blunder by playing paceman Muhammad Khalil in the second Test, says former captain Aamir Sohail.

“We all know that the Eden Gardens pitch has always helped the spinners late in the match and Pakistan have definitely erred by not including off-spinner Arshad Khan.”

Khalil got hammered in the second innings and Aamir said that Pakistan could have done well by playing Arshad with the new ball being shared by Muhammad Sami and Abdul Razzaq.

India opener Virender Sehwag hit the 23-year-old Khalil for three boundaries in his very first over of the second innings in which he conceded 14 runs.

The Kolkata Test is Khalil’s only second match after he made his debut against Australia at Perth recently.
