KARACHI, March 19: Mohammad Abbas and Sunny Williams claimed the doubles crown in the Pakistan junior’s tennis championship after they beat Abdul Rehman and Ibrahim 6-2, 6-3 at the NORE 1 (Naval Courts), Queen’s Road on Saturday. Earlier in the semifinals, Ibrahim and Abdul Rehan in an exciting match which went the full distance, dropped the first set 4-6. The winners getting their act together came back strongly to take the next set 7-5 to finally clinch victory 6-4 in the deciding set.

A tough fight was expected in the finals, but the semifinal encounter took its toll on Ibrahim and Rehan, who looked rather jaded, when they came out to play their final match.

Sunday’s fixtures:

Junior boys under-16 (final): Mohammad Abbas v/s Sunny Williams.

Junior boys under-12: Adil Kohari v/s Khawaja Hamza.

The matches begin at 4.00 p.m.
