DERA GHAZI KHAN, March 19: Only the political assistant to the tribal area visited the Zinda Pir tragic incident site. Neither District Nazim Jamal Khan Leghari, Tehsil Nazim Usman Khan Buzdar, the DCO nor officials of the nearby cement factory reached there in time to launch the relief and rescue operation. The District Nazim and other officials concerned had only monitored the situation from the cement factory, some nine kilometres away from the disaster site. They took no pain to reach the site. Survivors, who waited for the rescue operation for some 24 hours, were under deep shock as bodies were lying all around them. The local people took the responsibility of carrying out the relief and rescue work and provided the much-needed help to the survivors. Bashir and Lal Buksh lost their 10 and eight family members, respectively. Bodies were handed over to their relatives.

DEAD: The dead were identified as Jindan Bibi (80 years of age), Nasim Mai (25), Bhiranwan Mai (80), two sons of Hussain Bakhsh (five and seven years), Wazir Ahmed’s daughter (10), Shammo Bibi (30), Kauri Mai (40), Dilbar (3), Kundan Mai (80), Bashir Ahmed’s son (10), Zohran Mai (80), Nihal (40), five unidentified minor girls and three minor boys, Bakhtawar Mai (60), Sajjad Ahmed (3), Muhammad Ajmal (5), Sakina Mai (18), Ishaq (14), Nazan Bibi (3), Afzal (24), Hira Mai (22), Chanan Mai (60), Amna Bibi (5), Farzana (4), Jindan Mai (60), Shabana (5), Siani Mai (60), Mohmal (7), Nazir Mai (30), Hussain (5), Munir (3) and Kulsoom (5).
