DHAKA, March 19: Two left wing political parties staged separate demonstrations on Saturday to condemn the occupation of Iraq. The Workers Party of Bangladesh formed a human chain in front of the main gate of the Supreme Court, and the Communist Party staged a demonstration outside its headquarters.

The WP general secretary, Bimal Biswas, read out a statement criticizing the United States and Britain for invading Iraq. “They have formed a puppet government in Iraq, but the Iraqi people do not recognize it,” the declaration said.
