LAHORE, March 16: Punjab PML-N Chief Organizer Sirdar Zulfikar Ali Khosa has directed all party leaders and supporters to prepare themselves for the local elections, which are due to be held during the current year. Mr Khosa said on Wednesday the party leaders and workers were asking whether the PML-N would contest the polls from its own platform or that of the ARD. He said a policy decision on the subject would be taken by the ARD leaders. However, he made it clear that the party would take an active part in the local elections.

Meanwhile, the provincial organizing committee will meet here on March 21 to prepare its recommendations about office-bearers for all districts in the Punjab. The recommendations would be forwarded to Mian Nawaz Sharif for final approval.

Meanwhile, office-bearers for Chakwal district were shortlisted on Wednesday while the exercise in Jhelum and Rawalpindi districts would be carried out on Thursday and Friday.

DELAYED: PML-N parliamentary party leader Rana Sanaullah Khan could not hear the viewpoint of five PML-N MPAs about their role in disrupting a party meeting recently.

A meeting for the purpose was scheduled for Wednesday, but it could not take place because of some other engagements of the PML-N parliamentary party leader.

JOIN: Mian Allah Ditta Khalid, a union council Nazim in Mailsi tehsil, and some others called on Mr Qasim Zia on Wednesday and joined the PPP.

According to a party press release, Khalid has thousands of supporters who, too, would join the PPP.
