15 in post office scam penalized

MIANWALI, March 15: As many as 15 employees of Kalabagh, Mari Indus and Mianwali post offices were suspended here on Tuesday for their alleged involvement in a financial scam.

The scandal was unearthed by a vigilance cell of the Lahore postmaster general office.

A post office source told

Dawn that the accused were warned of sending their

cases to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) as a result they deposited Rs6 million and more recovery was expected.

He said some registers of saving accounts and pensions were ‘missing’ from the Kalabagh sub-post office and an inquiry was being conducted.

Those suspended were identified as Mehr Muhammad Khushi, Muhammad Nawaz, Ghulam Hussain, Noor Ahmed, Muhammad Akbar Khan, Muhammad Aslam, Ismatullah, Khalilur Rehman, Farasat Ali, Ahmed Khan, Abdul Manan, Maskeen Ali, Abdul Khalique, Sikandar Hayat and Muhammad Aslam.
