KARACHI, March 14: A monitoring team of the Sindh Local Government Commission, headed by Member Technical M A Kareem, called on the City Nazim Niamatullah Khan,

here at the Civic Center on Monday.

The nazim told them about the ongoing uplift projects in the city. He told them that the city government was constructing 471 transit shelters to facilitate the road commuters, besides 28 steel flyovers were being constructed on the BOT basis.

The nazim said that a contract had been inked with a US firm for the first phase of Mass Transit Corridor.

He said that the city government was doing its best to keep the rates of milk, flour, sugar and other daily use commodities under control, but without magisterial powers it could not achieve too much.

The city nazim said that his government was working according to the Sindh local government ordinance.

DCO Fazlur Rehman, Director General Iqbal Ahsan Zaidi, Director Administration Danish Saeed and other were present on the occasion.—PPI
