KARACHI, March 11: The Pakistan Muslim League (Functional) President Pir Pagara, has said the ongoing political crisis in Sindh was not likely to be overcome soon, as he sees it to intensify in the future, which could lead to martial law.

Pagara said this while talking to a group of journalists after meeting with the Federal Commerce Minister, Humayun Akhtar, who called on him at the Kingri House on Friday.

During the meeting, which lasted for about an hour, the minister reportedly conveyed a message of President Pervez Musharraf to Pir Pagara, sources said.

When asked about the Pakistan Peoples Party, Pir Pagara said that PPP leaders often met him; however, the next round of talks would not be in Pir Jo Goth but at the national level.

In reply to another question about Begum Salma Ahmad, he said her case would be decided by the court, but at the moment there was much talk about her book.

Mr Akhtar said he had come to exchange views with Pir Pagara, who was an important personality of the country to be able to unite the PML.

“We exchanged views about the PML’s affairs and the political situation prevailing in the country including Sindh’s affairs,” he added.
