SHIKARPUR, March 9: Clerks on Wednesday took out a procession and staged a demonstration against delay in acceptance of their demands in response to the call of All Pakistan Clerks Association.

Led by APCA district chief organiser Abdul Wahab Kaghzi, the procession started from the Government Primary Boys School, Lakhi Gate. A large number of peons, chowkidars, drivers and clerks of education, health, population, public health, agriculture and highways departments participated in the rally.

The protesters staged a sit-in at Lakhi Gate Tower Chowk. Speaking on the occasion, APCA leaders Abdul Wahab Kaghzi, Shamsuddin Soomro, Lala Imtiaz Durrani, Noshad Ali Shaikh, and Shafiq Ahmed Memon expressed their concern over non-acceptance of their demands.

They have been demanding enhancement in pay scales, house rent, and medical allowance in view of ever-increasing prices of daily-use items. The APCA leaders threatened to take extreme action if their demands were not met soon by the government.
