DADU, March 4: The condition of four teachers and the president of the lower staff union deteriorated as they continued hunger strike unto death outside the press club on the fourth consecutive day on Friday.

Teachers Zaman Soomro, Syed Mushtaq Shah, GSTA leader Ali Raza Jamali, PTA leader Aman Hingoro and president of the lower staff union of district education department, Hajan Panhwar fell unconscious at the hunger strike camp.

Two doctors from the civil hospital, Dr Niaz Kalhoro and Dr Asghar Malik examined the hunger strikers and provided them treatment. Representatives of social, political and religious organizations staged a demonstration outside the press club supporting the demands of 58 teachers appointed on deceased quota.

They were led by the district secretary GSTA Hameed Memon, the president of the Citizen Ittehad, Inayat Ali Jamali and district president PPP ladies wing Kulsoom Chandio.

They said primary teachers had observed a token hunger strike for 118 days and since the last four days they were on hunger strike unto death for acceptance of their demands.

They alleged that officials of treasury and district accounts office had demanded Rs500,000 for release of their salaries. Speakers threatened if salaries of teachers were not released, a shutter-down strike would be observed in Dadu.
