Nine killed as jeep overturns

GILGIT, Feb 28: At least nine people were killed and eight others injured when a jeep overturned while negotiating a sharp bend in Chilas town, headquarters of Diamer District, on the Karakoram Highway on Monday, police said.

The jeep was heading for Khanbari village from Chilas when its driver lost control. Seven people died on the spot while two others expired in hospital.

The dead were identified as Abdul Sabar, Mohammad Ayaz, Fazil Khan, Soan Khan, Lal Azam, Umer Jahan, Abdul Sattar, Abdul Wakil and Jehangir Khan. -APP
