KARACHI, Feb. 28: Speakers at a workers demonstration on Monday demanded that all the daily wage workers of the Pakistan Telecommunications Company be regularized immediately.

They were speaking at the demonstration organized by the All Pakistan PTCL Daily Wagers (Foundation) Action Committee at the Press Club. Nadeem Khan, Nawaz Samoon, Aftab Haider, Mahmood Ali, Faisal and others spoke.

They said that the then Prime Minister Shujjat Hussain in the presence of Federal Communications Minister Awais Leghari, had announced on Aug 7, 2004 that services of all the temporary employees would be regularized.

They said following these instructions, temporary and daily wage employees in the Punjab and NWFP have been regularized, but the employee in Balochistan and Sindh are not being regularized.

They demanded that the biased attitude of the officials concerned was creating unrest among the affected employees. This attitude be checked and employees serving in Sindh and Balochistan be regularized.
