ISLAMABAD, Feb 25: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue Dr Salman Shah here on Friday held a meeting with the World Bank (WB) mission and reviewed the progress on the bank-funded Public Sector Capacity Building Project.

In a meeting held at the ministry of finance, Dr Shah directed the authorises concerned that presentation should be made on the programme of the National School of Policy Planning (NSSP) in the next meeting of the steering committee. He also desired that the steering committee should meet every month.

The meeting also discussed different components of the public sector capacity building project to identify the bottlenecks and also take various steps to ensure speedy implementation of the project.

The adviser also expressed his satisfaction over the pace of progress regarding the implementation of the professional development and executive development programmes, reforms in the Central Bureau of Revenue (CBR) and capacity building programmes in other entities.

He asked the Establishment Division to get feed back from the trainees of the first batch of the executive development programme so that to evaluate the usefulness of the programme in the local context. Policy review of the executive development programme would be undertaken subsequently to develop a placement policy for these trainees, he said.

The issue related to the capacity building of the regulatory authorities also came under discussion. It was decided that a policy paper on capacity building issues of various regulatory authorities would be prepared and put up in the next meeting of the steering committee.
