ABBOTTABAD, Feb 25: The Peshawar Electricity Supply Company on Thursday disconnected supply to the 10 tube-wells in the city, causing water shortage.

Power supply to 147 defaulters, including government departments, was also disconnected. A Pesco spokesman said millions of rupees were outstanding against the department and they had failed to clear the dues by the deadline of Feb 15.

The departments that failed to clear the dues include the Nadra revenue office, the income tax Office, the Havelian cantonment board, the SP police lines, the Mirpur and Kotha Qabar police stations, the public health department, the Abbottabad tehsil municipal administration and the water Supply stations at Malilkpura, Kehal and Aram Bagh. Power supply to four offices of the PTCL were also disconnected resulting in disturbance in the communication link. The TMA reportedly owes Rs2.7 million to Pesco.
