KARACHI, Feb 25: The Sindh chief minister has approved an increase of 10 seats reserved for local students under the self-finance scheme at the government-run medical colleges.

A senior official of the health department said that following a summary moved by the department, the chief minister had allowed an increase of 10 seats under self-financing at Chandka Medical College Larkana, People's Medial College Nawabshah and Sukkur Medical College Sukkur for local students.

The official said that by virtue of the latest approval, now students who were put on the waiting lists in 2004-2005 would be benefited. Now first 10 entries in the self-finance waiting list meant for local students would be able to finalize their admissions and begin medical education, the official added.

Earlier, there was an allocation of 27 self-finance seats each at the three colleges in question. The health department notified the increase in seats, which would be applicable in the coming years also on Friday.
