SUKKUR, Feb 24: Three people were gunned down by armed men in the Farm village near Lakhi Ghulam Shah, about 10 kilometres off Sukkur on Thursday.
A landlord Ashiq Mahar was on way to his home along with his two peasants when gunmen made hostage all of them near Sim Shakh near the Farm village.
The gunmen asked their identification and opened indiscriminate firing and killed all of them on the spot. Those killed are Ashiq Mahar and his two peasants Qurban Ali and Mako alias Sultan Gopang.
Police said the triple murder was a result of feud between Jatoi and Mahar tribes. After the triple murder, hundreds of Mahar and Gopang tribesmen blocked the Indus highway for several hours.
A strong contingent of police rushed to the area and brought the situation under control. The area of Lakhi which is the native town of federal minister Ghous Bux Mahar was in the grip of tension and Mahar and Jatoi tribesmen entrenched against each other and curfew like look was in the area.
