KARACHI, Feb 23: The Customs Collectorate (preventive) seized a consignment of psychotropic injections worth Rs4,227,405 being flown into the city from Pasni late on Tuesday night.

The Customs spokesman said that a team of the Drug Enforcement Cell at the Jinnah International Airport seized six packages arrived from Pasni by PIA flight (PK 552).

The packages were lying unclaimed at the conveyor belt. Detailed examination of the packages resulted in the recovery of contraband psychotropic medicines, the spokesman added.

The contraband medicines included Afzor (Buprenophine) worth Rs2,640,000; Neoral tablets 100mg worth Rs608,300; Cell Cept tablets 500mg worth Rs517,000; Cell Cept capsules worth Rs40,000; Venofer injections worth Rs18,105; EPREX-2000 injections 64 boxes worth Rs384,000; eight boxes of Phenytoin injections 5ml each containing five ampoules worth Rs20,000, he added.

Following the recovery of the banned items, a case has been registered against unknown persons and investigation of the case has been started, the spokesman added.
