ISLAMABAD, Feb 22: Former president of Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-i-Azam) Mian Muhammad Azhar says without ridding Pakistan Muslim League of corrupt and character less elements, PML cannot be turned into an ideological party.

He was talking to the delegations of Muslim Leaguers hailing from Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur here on Tuesday. The delegation comprised Saeed Ahmed Nizami, Khalid Memon, Siraj Khan and Darya Khan.

According to a statement, Mian Azhar said his fault lay in the fact that he had opposed the appointment of popular and distinguished Muslim Leaguers on the top list of the party.

He said now that the cases of their alleged corruption involving millions of rupees had come to light, the light behind their background had suddenly come to the fore bringing to the fore their low mentality.

Mr Azhar said the cease fire that had been brought among the party leaders in Sindh would not hold in the party. "There are several corrupt and character less people like Imtiaz Sheikh, who have brought a bad name to PML and its politics in Sindh," he said.
