DERA GHAZI KHAN, Feb 22: Anti-corruption deputy-director (technical) Khwaja Mukhtar on Tuesday raided the Dera tehsil municipal office and confiscated the record related to the annual development programme (ADP) of 2004-05.

The raid was conducted on an application lodged by former councillor Mirza Ishtiaq in which he alleged that the Dera tehsil Nazim and his team were involved in awarding of tenders to their favourites.

Mr Ishtiaq in his application alleged that tehsil Nazim Asim Zubair Khosa, during a meeting on Feb 15, 2005, had tried to award tenders to his favourites, but he could not do so on the interruption of some contractors and former councillors.

However, deputy director Khwaja Mukhtar recorded statements of TMO Mr Safdar, Naib tehsil Nazim Hafiz Khalid Rauf and complainant Mirza Ishtiaq. When contacted, Hafiz Khalid Rauf denied the charges and said that the house would approve the uplift schemes on Feb 26. Tehsil Nazim Asim Zubair was not available for comment as he was in Islamabad.
