ABBOTTABAD, Feb 21: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has directed all agencies concerned to speed up relief work in Galyat region and has asked the government of the NWFP and local governments to compile details of the losses for which, he assured, the federal government would provide compensation.

The prime minister issued the directive during a brief visit to Abbottabad on Monday. He was accompanied by Governor NWFP Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah, Deputy Speaker National Assembly Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob, Federal Minister Amanullah Khan Jadoon, President PML Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Secretary-General PML Senator Mushahid Hussain, local MPA's Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani, Nisar Safdar and Qalandar Khan Lodhi.

District Nazim Col (retd) Mustafa Jadoon and Director of Abasin Construction Company briefed the prime minister on the road clearance work in the Galyat region. He said that the Abasin Construction Company, which has been given the contract for the removal of snow in Galyat region, had been unable to clear the roads due to the unprecedented snowfall. However, he added that efforts were going on to clear them.

The nazim said that control rooms had been established to monitor the situation in the area. The prime minister announced that the federal government would be providing Rs100,000 as compensation for each rain and flood victim while compensation for property loss would be paid after assessment had been made.
