LAHORE: Two killed catching kites

LAHORE, Feb 21: A boy was electrocuted while a girl died after falling from the rooftop of her house to catch kites in two separate incidents here on Monday.

Arif of Youhanabad, Nishtar Colony, told police his son Nabil (13) caught a stray kite with a metal string.

The string touched an electric wire and the boy suffered a shock. He was taken to hospital where he died. Javed Ahmad of Chungi Amar Sadhu said his daughter Nagina (8) fell from the rooftop while catching a kite. She died instantly.

LIQUOR DEATH: A youngster died after taking home made liquor at Aalia Town in Shalamar here on Monday. Police said Akmal (25) and his friends Arshad and Kashif took home made liquor.

Their condition worsened and they fell unconscious. Their families shifted them to the Shalamar Hospital where Akmal died before first aid while the condition of his friends was said to be critical.

SUICIDE: Two people committed suicide in separate incidents in the city on Monday. Yasin (22) of Mohlanwal was a labourer in a garment unit. He fell in love with a co-worker.

He took poison when the girl refused to marry him. He was taken to hospital where he died. Fauzia (20), a resident of Sector C/1, Green Town, took poison following a quarrel with her elder brother over a petty issue and died in hospital.
