KARACHI: Ministers call on Arbab

KARACHI, Feb 21: A number of provincial ministers called on Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim at the CM's House on Monday. They included Syed Sadruddin Shah Rashdi, Sardar Nadir Akmal Leghari, Syed Sardar Ahmed and Chaudhry Iftekhar Ahmed.

Speaker of the Sindh Assembly Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah also met the chief minister. Dr Arbab discussed various matters, including the situation obtaining in the province, with the visitors.

DELEGATION: A four-member delegation of Sri Lankan Parliamentarians, headed by E. J. M. Loku Bandara, called on Chief Minister Dr Arbab Rahim at CM's House on Sunday. Issues relating to the functioning of national and provincial assemblies in Pakistan and Sri Lanka were discussed at the meeting.

Dr Arbab briefed the guests about the steps taken by the government to strengthen democratic institutions in the country. Members of the delegation were of the view that legislators of both the countries could learn a lot from each other's experiences and this would greatly help promote and strengthen the existing cordial relations between the two sides. -APP/PPI
