KARACHI, Feb 19: The Sindh health department, on directives of Chief Minister Secretariat, has directed all health officials and heads of institutions not to deliver any information pertaining to "official secrets" to journalists.

In an official letter issued by the additional secretary to Chief Minister it was stated that official secrets were being delivered to journalists. An inquiry should be initiated in this matter and action be taken against such officials, it added.

The health secretary has asked all officials, including Medical Superintendents of Sindh Governments hospitals, now functioning under administrative control of City District Government Karachi, to strictly comply with the directives.

General public and social workers are of the opinion that such directives will prevent public to know the facts and figures about the hospitals and keep them completely unaware of additional facilities, if provided at any hospital. -PPI
